To Whom It May Concern:

I wish to express my support and recommendation for Eric Poling as he seeks his next opportunity. Eric has been my direct leader since 2016. His leadership and direction impacted our organization in a very positive way. He is fully capable and will excel in any leadership position he undertakes.

As part of a leader group that Eric managed, how he should approach us was probably a difficult one since most of us were very tenured. He did that by reminding us why we are leaders and what it means to be a leader. For newer managers it was a great message to hear. For those of us who have been around a while it was a refreshing reminder. He challenged us everyday to be the best that we can. We began to do things we thought we didn’t have time to do. One reason this was successful was because Eric never asks anyone to work harder than he is willing to. And most of the time he is the one working the hardest. Eric is leaving a department that is functioning more efficiently and with higher quality than it was three years ago. He is directly responsible for the success.

I have been with this organization for over 47 years. I have been in a leader role since 1998. I have never had a manager who inspired me as much as Eric. His expectations are always high. However, he truly cares about the managers who report to him and their direct reports. This is something we have witnessed every day. I know I am a better manager due to my experience with Eric and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work for him for the past three years.

Sincerely,

Joseph C Cribari

To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Eric Poling. I first met Eric in May of 2016, when he moved to Harrisburg after accepting an Associate Director role within the company. I have reported directly to him since that time. Eric is an exceptional leader and is a great source of support. He is patient and always willing to share his knowledge. He is well known for his work ethic, intelligence, and motivation.

I was a new leader when Eric joined our department and he has been a great mentor and taught me valuable lessons on how to be successful in my own career. With my new role, I began handling claims for states that I was unfamiliar with. Eric was instrumental in helping me learn and be an effective leader. He is extremely patient and always willing to talk through coverage scenarios and share his knowledge.

Eric is extremely hard working and is always looking for ways to get involved, whether it be individually or with special group projects. I have seen Eric lead several different initiatives, all of which had positive outcomes. When he first came to our department, he was able to do an in-depth analysis and run various reports, which was not part of his job description, but helped us target our efforts, identify coaching opportunities and set us up for success. Eric is extremely intelligent and as you can tell from his numerous designations, he is passionate about the insurance industry. He is highly motivated and is always looking for ways to develop himself.

Eric would bring quality assets and knowledge to any organization. I can confidently recommend him for any position or job that he chooses to pursue.

Sincerely,

Anne Smith

To Whom It May Concern:

I wish to express my support and recommendation for Eric Poling as he seeks his next opportunity. I believe so strongly in Eric’s ability and value that I wanted to provide him with an unsolicited endorsement. I have directly reported to Eric since May 2016 as a Casualty Claims Manager in his First Part Medical district. During that time, I have witnessed daily examples of Eric’s dynamic leadership, commitment to excellence, and ability to engage at multiple levels.

Eric’s leadership has made a permanent impact on me. He leads by example and never asks his team to do something he isn’t willing to do himself. During a one on one meeting in early 2018, he asked me about my development plan. I said I was pursuing my CPCU designation. When he asked about my progress, I explained that I took a test in 2013 and was still working on the next one. He showed me the path of the Associate in Claims designation and explained that he had completed his AIC and was pursuing his CPCU and thought the AIC was a better place to start. After each successful test, I raced back to the office to show him my certificate and he was almost more excited than me. Thanks to his encouragement, I completed my AIC in July of this year. I know that this is something I never would have considered or completed without him cheering me on.

Eric’s commitment to his team and organization is infectious. He leads by example in the way he never settles for average. He is gracious and inclusive when presenting feedback. He has coached me on several occasions and I always knew it was with the intention of making me a stronger claims leader. He taught me the importance of accurate reserving, especially when working to set reserves for large loss files. He is just as detailed during our weekly coverage conferences. The number of files each week might tempt a different leader to cut corners or choose the easy answer; but not Eric. His background as a litigation manager and attorney negotiator manager has trained him to foresee the ripple effects of an ill-informed decision. He is an expert on policy but allows these meetings to be conversational so the adjuster presenting becomes more proficient after each review.

From his early days as our First Party Medical Associate Director, Eric committed to making sure each associate and leader in his organization felt appreciated. He created monthly customer service meetings. During those meetings, he delivered inspiring messages of people who went above and beyond the call of duty or helped someone in need. At the end of each meeting, associates who earned top marks in customer service surveys were celebrated. These meetings also included recognition for associates celebrating work anniversaries or birthdays in that month. He also walks through the aisles daily to greet the associates and make them feel welcome.

In short, Eric is the best boss I have ever worked for. His extensive claims background is impressive enough but it’s who he is as a person and leader that is truly special. His only goal each day is to not only be a little better than yesterday but to inspire others to do the same. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Crystal Dietrich
